Games I’ll Play in 2019: Maybe Part 3

Operating under the assumption that these games are actually going to come out during 2019, here’s a list of those I’m looking forward to. This list includes anything not specifically dated besides 2019.

Alphabetical Order

D

Digimon Survive from Witchcraft

Release Date: Sometime, maybe.

Will I buy? Yes. Of course. I can’t escape my nostalgia for this series.

Apparently this is a Visual Novel, kind-of, mixed with who knows what. I know very little about the game, which is likely because not much has been released. If it includes the word “Digimon” in the title, I’m in. I can offer no analysis past that.

F

Fire Emblem: Three Houses from Nintendo and Intelligent Systems

Release Date: Also possibly sometime.

Will I Buy? Yes. Eventually.

I loved the 3DS Fire Emblem games, mostly, and I’m sure I’ll like the Switch version. But, that means getting a Switch. I’m not a traditional Fire Emblem player considering I don’t do permadeath, its not my thing. I enjoy the strategic gameplay, the in- and outside of battle relationships, and the classes of the structure. I’m excited to get into the Switch in depth and Fire Emblem is my way into the console.

S

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Respawn Entertainment.

Release Date: 2019. No way it comes out this year. Not happening.

Will I Buy? Day 1 when it actually appears.

There is no way this game comes out in 2019.  If it magically does, I’ll buy it ASAP because its Star Wars and it isn’t Battlefront. Respawn proved they know how to tell a story with Titanfall 2 and I expect this game to be good. However, considering we have almost no information, I’m skeptical about a 2019.

Skull & Bones from Ubisoft Singapore

Release Date: I’m going to guess thats around the normal Assassin’s Creed slot, so sometime in October.

I mentioned this game at the end of 2017 because it was originally announced for 2018, if I remember correctly. In a surprise to no one, the game was pushed to 2019. Ubisoft has already said that they are skipping Assassin’s Creed Odyssey so Skull & Bones fits that slot perfectly. I want to imagine the game will be similarly to the ship combat and development from AC:IV. We haven’t really seen an in depth look, yet, so its hard to be sure. I am skeptical about the Ubisoft Singapore studio because I don’t know much about the two games they were the primary developer on. For reference, they developed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, neither of which set the world on fire. In fact, both received middling to negative reviews overall. This will be a real test for the studio, so I have expectations low, but I’m interested nonetheless.

Okay, that’s enough for now. I have come to realize I didn’t talk about Sony’s upcoming games, besides Days Gone, so I’m going to leave those for another post because I’m skeptical about their 2019 schedule.

Did I miss anything that doesn’t have a release date yet? Let me know.

Thanks for reading.
